Catfish for Supper, Tuesday March 29th
Guitarist Jon Sholle joins Andy Statman's Trio at 9 pm on Tuesday March 29th at the Charles Street Synagogue. Jon will add another credit to his already ridiculously long list with the release of Andy's forthcoming Old Brooklyn set.
Jon and guitarist Hiro Arita dropped in on Andy at the Synagogue last year - here's a video clip, and you can read up on Jon's doings here.
Also - the final guest before the holiday break will be klezmer accordionist and Bulgarian-music-archivist Lauren Brody on Tuesday, April 5th (also Jim's birthday party!). The Slivovitz will flow freely.

Tuesday 15th March: Andy Statman Trio with Van Manakas
Next Tuesday our special guest artist is guitarist Van Manakas who has a list of collaborators ranging from Patty Loveless to the Gil Evans Orchestra. His most recent solo album is called American Guitar. In 2010 he completed and released Leavin' Tennessee, a collaboration with longtime friend and colleague, the late, great mandolin virtuoso Butch Baldassari.
We'll probably play a lot of Fiddlin' Arthur Smith tunes - here's a little clip of Andy,Van and Jim playing one called Fiddler's Dream.

Our First Tuesday Night @ the Charles Street Synagogue
Tomorrow night, 8 March, will mark our first ever Tuesday at the Charles Street Synagogue (53 Charles St NYC NY). We'll also have our first featured guest artist in quite some time - Pete Rushefsky, a master of the tsimbl (or, if you prefer, cimbalom). It should be quite a night. The trio will also be back on Thursday.
Make a note - next Tuesday (15 March) we'll have as our guest the amazing guitarist Van Manakas and we'll be featuring the music of Bill Monroe and Fiddlin' Arthur Smith.
